Idaho Falls Power Celebrates 125 Years of Serving the Community
October 15, 2025
This year marks an incredible milestone for Idaho Falls Power. We are celebrating 125 years of providing reliable, community-owned power to the residents and businesses of Idaho Falls!
To celebrate, we’re inviting the public to join us for a birthday open house on Wednesday, October 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Idaho Falls Power offices, 140 S Capital in downtown Idaho Falls.
This casual, drop-in event is a chance to connect with our team, enjoy light refreshments, and take a short look back at our history. A 10-minute video presentation highlighting the story of Idaho Falls Power, from our beginnings in 1900 to today’s modern utility as well as deep look into our hydroelectric plants, will play every 15 minutes.
As one of the oldest public power utilities in the nation and the first city in Idaho to have its own hydroelectric power plant, Idaho Falls Power is proud to have grown alongside the city we serve. For more than a century, we’ve remained committed to keeping the lights on, maintaining affordable rates, and investing in local infrastructure that benefits everyone in our community.
This celebration isn’t just about our past, it’s about our people. From the hardworking employees who keep things running to the customers who trust us every day, this milestone belongs to all of us.
We hope you’ll stop by, share a few memories, and celebrate 125 years of local power in Idaho Falls.
